About

Hi 👋 I'm Katie, and I can't wait to meet you! May I start by saying, I know it can be hard to seek out pelvic floor physical therapy. I get it. So good job to you for taking the first hard step! Let me tell you a little about me so you aren't opening up to someone you know zero about... I also want you to know you will be cared for *so well* at my physical therapy practice.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa which is where I learned about and fell in love with pelvic floor physical therapy.

When I was in school, access to pelvic health physical therapy information and care was extremely limited so I had never learned anything about it until I did some shadowing. My fascination with this specialty grew as I learned more, and to this day I continue to be amazed at the way muscular impairments cause such a wide array of problems! Patients express this same astonishment to me as they learn about their bodies and the impact muscles and movement have over bowel, bladder, and sexual function. I continue to be passionate about and committed to transforming and restoring my patients’ quality of life through this important work.

I honed my expertise as a pelvic physical therapist at Northwestern Medicine in Lake Forest, Illinois and later at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. I have also completed extensive coursework with respected institutions such as Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, American Physical Therapy Association, and the Institute of Physical Art, among others.

Non-professionally, I just love my family and am glad to spend as much time as I can with them! My husband, Thomas, serves as a pastor at our church here in Iowa City and we have 3 little boys who bring us so much joy! They enjoy baseball, biking, and Costco pizza so I do too now :)
